This session will focus on the successful coexistence between offshore wind and fishing industries. By creating opportunities via contracts, offshore wind developers can foster trust and collaboration with ports and fleets. We will discuss how collaborating with fishing fleets can establish trust within communities rooted in commercial fishing, explore opportunities for employing fishermen during the offseason / in addition to their commercial activities, examine the relationship between commercial fishing and offshore wind concerning contracts and commercial interests, and touch on the importance of early community engagement for greater success.
