Visualization Practice Leader EDR Syracuse, New York
Presentation Description: Visibility of wind turbines from sensitive coastal vantage points is an important consideration in siting and permitting offshore wind energy projects. Projects anticipated to be highly visible often generate more public comments and scrutiny regarding all subject matters relative to those considered to have a lower level of visibility. This presentation aims to establish the differences and relationships between project visibility, visual impact, and public perception. The presentation will explain the main factors that affect project visibility and to what degree they relate to visual impact. In addition, the presentation will offer guidance regarding meaningful dialogue with stakeholders and members of the public around the sensitive topic of visual impacts.
